40-day challenge (day 4)

Day 4 - In Spirit and in Truth

It's quite shameful that as the ministry head for One Voice, I have never done a devotion on the following passage:

But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers of God will worship the Father in Spirit and Truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshippers. - John 4:23

To be honest, I don't really know what it means to worship in Spirit and in Truth. I have heard so many intepretations of this verse, and some obviously dubious ones, that I have yet to discern which are acceptable.

Most tell me that to worship in truth is to mean what you sing, do or say as you praise God. And few make a serious distinction between spirit and truth. Sounds simple. Yes, I agree, but at the back of my mind I realise that there has to more than just that.

Exactly a week ago, ie last Friday, the ONE camp devotion material was on the Woman at the Well; you know, the one with 5 husbands? That is where the above passage is found. I was doing my QT when I felt the Holy Spirit telling me that He was going to reveal what it meant to worship in Spirit and in Truth.

So I was told to just observe the youth as they went about the camp. And over the next few days, more and more of what it means to worship in Spirit and in Truth began to be revealed. There is a lot to say, and it will take a few posts to completely cover it.

So, for starters, ask yourself, what is the Truth?
